Capacity Building of VET providers in the Sustainable Tourism

The SustainTour project aims to upskill VET teachers and the human capital of tourism sector in the Western Balkans. The project will focus on fostering the links between the tourism labour market and VET providers, promoting skills matching, developing their competences in sustainable tourism, and integrating social, green and digital skills, in tourism-related VET curricula. The project aims to:

To introduce a new occupational profile, the 'Sustainable Tourism Advisor', who will support SMEs in Tourism and Hospitality sector on how to transform their business to become sustainable (responsible, green, social digital).
Develop a training course with the title 'Sustainable Tourism Advisor' as blended learning course, combining face-to-face and distance learning offered via online environments.
Training of trainers in the methodology and the curriculum of the profile 'Sustainable Tourism Advisor' in order t create a significant number of trainers in Albania and Kosovo.
Train 60 unemployed scientists (30 Albania and 30 Kosovo) in new occupational profile 'Sustainable Tourism Advisor'.
Develop a 'Toolkit of Resources' and a 'Digital Online platform' in order the sustainable tourism advisor to provide his services effectively. They will be a number of tools and diagnostics, which will support the advisor to identify strengths and weaknesses in hospitality and tourism SMEs and how sustainability can improve them and the acquisition of responsible, social, green and digital competences for tourism SMEs.
Create a Community of Practice to promote transnational cooperation of trainers and training institutes in the fields of vocational education and labour market towards sustainable transformation in the tourism sector in order to enhance Hellenic- Cypriot-Spanish- Albanian and Kosovan partnership.
Implementation of dissemination activities in order to promote responsible, social, green and digital competences among trainers, facilitators, trainees in Albania and Kosovo, in VET, for implementing the sustainable transformation in the tourism sector with a focus in the hospitality.

OBJECTIVES

Objectives of the project are the following:

Built capacity of VET providers to strengthen cooperation between private and public stakeholders in the field of vocational education and training for demand-oriented and opportunity -driven VET interventions;

Improve the quality and responsiveness of VET to socio-economic opportunities and social developments to enhance the labour market relevance of skills provision;

Align VET provision to local, regional and national development strategies.
